Vittorio Colaizzi Gallery Talk May 14th

Art Historian Vittorio Colaizzi (author of the Placing Color catalogue essay) will give a Gallery Talk at the Placing Color exhibition at The Painting Center, NYC Thursday, May 14th from 5 - 7 pm. Professor Colaizzi will speak on the work of Robert Ryman in relation to contemporary abstract painting.

Vittorio Colaizzi holds an M.F.A. in painting and a PhD in art history from Virginia Commonwealth University. His essays and reviews have appeared in Art Papers, Smithsonian’s American Art, And Woman’s Art Journal. He is currently at work on a critical anthology and a monograph on Robert Ryman. Vittorio Colaizzi is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.

As well as writing the Placing Color catalogue essay, Professor Colaizzi is the author of Two Kinds of Thickness in Abstract Painting featured on The Painting Center Blog. He curated the exhibition Building Picturing at The Painting Center in June 2007.
